Xelphie Solid Hair Photoshoot
We at DAME have been interested in developing solid hair for some time, and it just so happens that Xelphie came to us with the perfect project to prototype our ideas!
As we had no prior experience with creating solid hair, we would normally have turned down a project this complex. However, as we are close friends with Xelphie, we agreed to take on the project as they seemed more than willing to act as our “guinea pig” in order to kickstart the development of solid hair. Though, the prospect of a mask with hybrid solid/inflatable hair likely sweetened the deal, just a little.
As said, the hair on this mask is a hybrid, a combination of parts made with different materials. The main bulk of the hair is made of solid resin, created by DAME, whilst the ponytail is a bespoke inflatable latex item made by Triple L. Just to make things clear, this means this specific design is one-of-a-kind, with both parts of the hair being created specifically for this one project. We worked closely with Xelphie, and by extension Triple L, to design the mounting point for the ponytail, and designed the hair to capture the same inflatable aesthetic.
